The Panari Hotel was opened in 2006 with the only indoor ice rink in East and Cental Africa on the 2nd floor of the hotel. Initially a destination for rental ice skating every hour, the location attracted expatriates working in Kenya who organized for the first friendly ice hockey game between a couple of Kenyans and the a team dubbed the Winnipeg “Jets” .

Today, the rink has expanded it’s facilities by adding in a dedicated locker room with additional ice hockey skates and working on storage for additional hockey equipment. Given the attraction of the sport, benches have been added around the rink not only for players awaiting substitutions but also for fans.
